Himalayan Bike Ride Checklist & Prep Guide

Before the thrill of twisting mountain roads comes the responsibility of checking your machine. The Himalayas aren’t forgiving — and a missed bolt or loose brake can turn your dream ride into a nightmare.

Start with the basics: tyre pressure, brake pads, chain tension, and oil levels. These four things alone can decide whether your ride stays smooth or gets stranded halfway to paradise.

Don’t ignore the clutch, throttle response, and battery health. Cold starts at high altitudes can surprise even experienced riders — and there’s no nearby mechanic at 15,000 feet.

Pack smart: basic tools, spare clutch cables, a puncture kit, zip ties, and a small fuel bottle if you’re heading into remote zones. These small things often make the biggest difference when you’re stuck mid-trail.

At Shishu Auto Adventures, every ride starts with a full prep session in our Naggar garage. We don’t just trust the rider — we trust the machine. Because out here, survival depends on both.
